Our Story
At Cruce de Fauna, we provide a unique vacation rental experience just outside Playa Hermosa, near Jaco.
With five rental units, we offer a blend of opportunities for comfort and adventure, allowing guests to connect with nature and encounter the wildlife that frequents our area.
About us
We are a long-time group of four friends that have not only fallen in love with travel together, but Costa Rica has stolen our hearts. We've been around the world and back to bring the best of our experiences to you- especially for those who are nature and animal focused!
We are exceptionally conscientious about our impact on the ecosystem so we do our best to make your stay as environmentally friendly as possible. From eco-friendly lighting, to efficient AC units, we consider our carbon footprint- and we hope you will do the same.
From being sure to close doors and windows when the AC is running, not leaving lights on unnecessarily, using the waste bin appropriately and taking your recycling to the depot (when possible), together we can keep Costa Rica and Cruce de Fauna looking beautiful!

Playa Jaco
Jaco is a small but vibrant city full of life, just blocks from the beautiful, wide-open, sandy beach which is rarely crowded. Experience nice waves for beginner surfing, along with lessons and board rentals.
Whether you want to just soak up sun, surf, boogie board or even rent jet skis or go horseback riding, Playa Jaco has what you need for a fun day at the beach.
A walk to town, restaurants and plenty of shopping are just a few blacks away as well- offering a variety of things do when everyone wants to do different things!
Playa Hermosa
Playa Hermosa is the closest beach to Cruce de Fauna, just at the end of Calle Hermosa. With it's dark, soft sand, this beach is one to check out for sure- just beware of the rip tides and currents.
This beach is great for expert surfers, but beginners should probably stick to Playa Jaco for the more predictable surfing experience.
You can however check out the pros every Saturday evening at 4pm from Bowies Point restaurant. Grab some delicious food and a drink and watch the pros surf some huge waves as the sun goes down!
Play Herredura
Playa Herradura is about 15 minutes north of Jaco and offers a protected beach good for swimming and even paddleboarding (though you may have to rent in town).
This beach is even more local and family oriented than Playa Jaco, which does boast a few more tourists- but both are certainly worth checking out if you have a car.
There are also some of the "at home" conveniences like Starbucks, KFC and AutoMercado supermarkets nearby. If you're looking for inexpensive bulk food goods/ drinks, check out Pequen~o Mundo as well.
